I was responding to the nonsensical statement that anyone who doesnt understand the Constitution should not be allowed into this country. Just about everyone on this list comes from family who did not understand what the Constitution meant. To close our borders to people who do not understand is riduculous. Alot of immigrants know that they are given an opportunity in this country. To them the Constitution is something distant. Once they come into this country then they are familiarized with the Constitution.
This is the actual quote I was responding to: "It's like inviting foreigners to come over to the United States of America without studying the Constitution!!"
Now Adam is trying to make this fairly inflammatory statement seem innocuous. That is unless every immigrant studied the Constitution word for word before they came to this country. But somehow I doubt that.
Nevermind that he called me an idiot both directly and indirectly.
> Suggesting that someone should leave the country because of certain > views he might hold is the kind of thing that was done in Soviet > Russia, not in the U.S.
No, in Soviet Russia they imprisoned and or executed people who didnt share their political views. The communists also tried to strike fear into the hearts of their citizens through intimidation. Soviet Russia also consisted of elitest communnists who didnt allow certain people to take part in their little club.
Also, I wasnt suggesting that anyone leave this country. I making a point, and my point was that closing off borders to people who havent studied the Constitution is ridiculous. Much like what this whole argument has spiraled into.
Microsoft broke federal laws, they arent bound by the GPL in any form or fashion. MS also has questionable business practices. If they were to make a better product than GNU/Linux then I would go out and buy it.. But they dont and they cant.
Its in my first response, all out there.
