SCM operates 24 hours a day on global financial markets.
Stevens Capital Management LP is seeking a highly skilled and motivated candidate for the following position:
Database Programmer
Join a research and trading development team responsible for developing and deploying leading edge mission critical financial trading applications. You will join in the management of proprietary and Sybase database systems to that facilitate management of large scale time series databases. As this environment continues to grow we seek a Database Programmer to work on all aspects of our database, from high performance on line transaction processing (2000tps) to data warehousing (250G+ servers) issues. This is a fast-paced/demanding environment. The user base consists of 20 technical and 20 non-technical users. SCM's selective hiring process considers only highly talented individuals with a history of exceptional professional and academic achievement, and solid real-world experience.
Responsibilities shall include: ·Develop Perl, SQL, C++ and UNIX shell scripts. ·Develop applications to organize, store, update and disseminate global market data. ·Software architecture and design issues for the database team; tool building. ·Work with financial time series.
Requirements of candidate: ·5+ years experience UNIX shell scripting, SQL, Perl and C++ in a client/server environment, with emphasis on Perl. ·BSc in Computer Science. ·Knowledge of Sybase or equivalent RDBMS experience is an asset. ·Strong working knowledge of the UNIX programming environment.
