Eckerd Corporation, a JCPenney company, and one of the nations largest drug store chains, currently has an opportunity for a POS Developer at our Corporate offices in Clearwater, FL.
DUTIES: Application Development /Testing on the NCR or IBM retail cash register computer systems. Documentation of new enhancements. Train all levels of support staff. Read, write and use test code in either C Basic or C and read, write UNIX shell scripts (vi editor) is preferred. Test and integrate 3rd party vendor software. Develop, test and execute code verification plans. Write test plans, design and training documentation. Troubleshoot software and hardware to assist in support of deployed code.
REQUIREMENTS: BA/BS with major in computer science or related technical field or Associates degree with minimum of 5 years of related IT experience. The successful candidate will have at least 2 years of Point of Sale experience in a retail environment and/or least 3 years experience working with Information Technology. Working experience in the following areas: Candidate should have strong programming skills (BASIC, C-ansi, PERL, AWK, UNIX (Korn) Shell Scripting, Java). Languages required: C, C++, Java, UNIX shell scripting. Desired skills are: Experience with an Automated Test tool, Familiar with the Rational Unified Process is a plus. Also, have a good understanding of database management using Progress Database (similar to MS Access) and writing database related scripts and queries (SQL). A Certification that is a plus is ASQC as a Quality Engineer. Experience with 4690 code (Basic C) is a plus. Working experience with UNIX, OS/2 WARP, DOS, Windows 9x/NT, and/or SQL are a plus. Good oral and written communication skills.
