Hi Rubin. I left you voice mail today. We need to discuss a few things.
First, please note that we can offer you only one or two network connections
(NO WIRELESS) in the Student Union. These machines are TOKEN RING (David, is
there any Ethernet available), so you will need TR NICs and drivers. As far
as the Library goes, we can offer wireless access to about 130 as that is
the capacity of the auditorium. Our wireless infrastructure requires users
to authenticate using the 802.1X protocol. David Best, our Network manager,
suggests Open1X for Linux clients. A user name and password will be issued
to you for all participants to use.
We also need to discuss some cost recovery issues. We will need to have 2 or
more technicians present during the conference. We need to discuss how the
College can be paid back for these and other services rendered for you. I
also suggest that you come in at lease 3 weeks before the event to firm up
everything, take care of details, etc. Please let me know when is good for
everyone. I myself will be out next week, so any time after that should be
fine.
