Who has the purse strings for Linux World? When it does not make sense follow the money.

The emphasis of promotion has a lot to do with the decisions individuals make in the choices. More importantanyly, the mind share people retain through promotion is paramount to, not only the business decisions they make, but also the political outcomes which we can expect.
The art of both politics and business is the maintenmence of the highest level of mindshare. This is why it was such a big mistake to include MS in the egov-os program.
Forgetting the past for the moment, of greater concern is the coming commitments of the "Linux World Expo". Last year, between the promotions of SCO and Microsoft, the show was ineffective at strengthening the goods and services available from Free Software developers, workers and businesses. This is especially true of the smaller businesses and individuals which are the life blood of the Free Software movement.
Since this is the largest stage for Free Software in the largest and most powerful city in North America, now might be a good time to work together on preventing a repeat of last years problems.
