If we can create enough of a profile of the issue prior to the IDG announcements, we might have an impact on the MS participation at the conference.
It is hard for OSI or the FSF to gain the level of press that IDG is capabile of since the whole show is centered on getting this media and press out for clients.
Perhaps we need to start to organize a pull out of the IDG show all together and fund a seperate Javitz Center Free Software expo. The show is not that large any longer anyway, and enough of the corperate clientel has been harmed by IDG's lack of basic senisbility, that we might well be able to pull the show from undernegth them.
One of the benifits we can give the major players is help in covering controversal issues like IBM's DRM harddrive announcements prior to LWE a few years ago, and filtering the entire SCO fiasco which essential began at the NY Show last year.
