SUBJECT | Subject: [hangout] Board Meeting Minutes - Tahdah
|
Agenda/Items discussed:
1. The Bank account at Signature Bank (where?) must be closed and a new one opened. Michael R. and Peter S. plan to open the new account at Commerce Bank in Brooklyn, tentatively this week.
2. Class scheduling. Classes Perl 1 and Unix 1 are going to be offered. The classes will start at the end of this month, September 2003.
3. Protest against the city-wide $40.00 licensing fee to Microsoft. NYLXS will stage a protest of this fee in late September in the Wall Street area, probably at Wall and Broad. A permit will be required.
4. The GNOME conference. Michael Richardson will call A. Tannenbaum at Brooklyn College regarding hosting the event. Letters soliciting funding should be sent to IBM, Novell, HP-Unix, using David Sugar's proposal as a model. This proposal should be available in the IRC minutes of the meeting last August 28, 2003. The members of the PR committe will be contacted regarding this matter.
5. The deadline for the next Journal issue is Sept. 31, 2003.
6. Inservices [at the NYC Board of Education?] Rob Marino has not set a date for his proposed ldap inservice. A Linux inservice for teachers was discussed. Rob Marino said that early October is a good starting time for inservices.
