Now - on the issue of politics and technology. It's a completely false and
bogus argument that technolgoy can be seperated from politics.
In fact, NOTHING can be seperated from politcs. What makes Technology any
different.
I mean, did you ever READ 1984 or not.
What is the some half of a billion dollars spent by the tech industry
on lobbying about?
WAKE UP.
God.
I'm so sick of ready this most idiotic of all statements from people I genuinely
respect for their intellect and experience.
And Linus Tovalds is an IDIOT. His APOLITICAL statement on DRM was immediately,
in the first 5 minutes of the 1201 DRM hearing, brought up as primia facia
evidence that DRM in CSS was completely viable with Free Software.
It's not. I don't give a darn if Richard Stallman himself makes this statement.
Digital Rights Management is a POLITCAL invention by the copyright content
mafia for the sole purpose of ending P2P trading of files. It is the
signle and only purpose of the entire effort to get in through Congress
and through hardware manufactures. The MPAA and the RIAA have stated this
as so in PLAIN FREAKEN English. I can get in translated into Russian
for those who have trouble reading the actual words.
I will not stand by and allow techno political fanatics who refuse to
recognize the plain meaning for DRM for the the public. DRM is nothing
more than a radical departure from the universaly recognized human rights
enshired in EVEREY Democratic government on the planet... EVEN FRANCE.
NOBODY IS INTERESTED IN DRM WHERE THE CONSUMER HAS THEIR OWN DAMN ROOT KEY.
Nobody NEEDS a DRM SYSTEM where the INDIVIUDAL CITIZEN has THEIR OWN DAMN
KEY. There is NO PUPOSE to ANY DRM SCHEME of this nature of the 100's of
millions of PRIVATELY OWNED COMPUTERS.
And Alex, I TRIPLE DARN YOU to find a SINGLE SERIOUS PROPOSAL for ANY DRM
SCHEME where the PRIVATE HOME OWNER OWNS THE KEY TO THE DRM.
As far as I'm concern, you can analize the BS TECH GURU DUNG from here to
New Jersey and NOT ONE SINGLE DVD PLAYER GIVES YOU THE KEY. NOT ONE.
Billions SOLD.... and NONE ARE FREE.
And when DRM gets into your computers and servers, it will be EXACTLY the
same thing...PERIOD.
This is NOT what I want for my kids future.
