SUBJECT | Subject: [hangout] [OT] perl q/ideas?
|
i am a beginner in perl, so please keep that in mind.
is there any perl module/someone has already done this in a better way?...the following thing.....
"the program would read one of the mail acct. it could be SMTP acct and the mail server can be on the same machine or possibly different....and parse the mail and insert into a DB the mail text. it wouldnt insert all text but only between certain (previously agreed) tags. and this inturn would update the website"
i mean what i have in mind is something like a "LAZY BLOG". I don't want to log into any acct. i dont want to use any software. but i just want to put a perl program on my site and that would read a certain acct (at certain intervals) and parse and would put those values in the DB (and archieve/flag/delete the mail). which inturn gets displayed on my website. (in an itemized/hierarchial format)
i am not trying to create a blog, but most of the times i find myself in situations (and places where only email is convinient) where i scratch something on a paper when i get an idea and by evening, i would be carrying like 20 of them(or 20 email reminders to myself). and no i dont want to buy a zaurus for that. :)
i am not sure, whether this is possible at all or not. but wanted to get some input from you guys. i am not even sure whether something like this has been done or may be in similar shades....
all your inputs would be appreciated....
thanx
