If we have one to spare for me to tinker with occasionally, I would like a machine which I can experiment with video editing software. I know that one of the machines at the cafe is available with an inoperational sound card. That one would be fine with me, I'm not concerned about a sound card right now.
My plan is to install the SuSe Pro 8.1 I have and download video editing software. Actually I believe the SuSe distribution comes with some software. While I toy around with the machine I might be able to get the sound card working too.
In the future I think a machine with a firewire port and a scsi drive would be best for video editing. OTOH, Robs says he may be able to gain us access to a video editing room sometime in Sept. There are supposed to be two Linux machines just sitting there. If I find a good Linux video editing solution those machines would be great machines to demonstrate that on.
