We're going to want to look at this more closely and see if we can steer the Board of Education a little on a better concept.
PHP is not a great language to instruct kids with. It's too sloppy and web specific. I spoke to Rob about this as I came off the train from the airport on Sunday night, and because of the commitments we made at the education convention, we might not have a choice, but we should try.
If it's just PHP their interested in, we might be better off kicking this to Hans and NYPHP. Rob and I are working on a serious study of student education with the integration of Free Software versus traditional options. If we do this study correctly, (double bind crossover) it will have a huge impact nation wide of the use of computers in education.
