SUBJECT | Subject: [hangout] Education committee
|
I would like to call a meeting of the NYLXS Education Committee on 7:00 PM.Tuseday July 22 2003,at the Brooklyn Marriot. I would like all current members of the Education committee to attend if possible, and all NYLXS members who wish to be part of the Education Committee. The address for the Brooklyn Marriot can be found at the end of this message. Topics to be discussed are as fallows 1)schedule a time preferably twice a month for the Education Committee to meet every month. 2)Ten Alternative High Schools have requested help or information on how we can help them with implementing technology in their schools. 3)The Alternative Schools have requested we help them in a district wide staff development on PHP and MySQL. I think we should try to convince them Perl is the way to go but even if we cant convince them its still a good way to get our foot in the door of a lot of schools. 4)Turning some of the FSI class into viable classes for high schools. 5)Initial planing of software packages targeted for schools. 6)Laying out a plan for what we want to cover in presentation that we make for schools. 7)Discus what out goals will be for a study of technology in education. 8)Discus what content we should have on the NYLXS website to represent the education committee.
The most important points on this list 1-4 these must be addressed as soon as possible. A representative of the alternative schools will be attending the meeting to discuss the MySQL/PHP class.
