Damn, that is amazing. He's not even talking about Free Software, just
Open Source software, which he claims to advocate. I'm sure Bruce
Perens has something conciliatory to say about this, even if it
contradicts his previous statements (like his march in San Francisco).
What is wrong with these people? Stanco is obviously a capitalist and a
careerist, who can't accept the idea that some things serve the public
interest better than the marketplace. I've read the letter by
Villanueva before, and you can't find a more eloquent statement in any
language to illustrate this idea. If Stanco can admit that educating
children is better accomplished through "Open Source", how great of a
leap is it to extend that to storing public information and manipulating
public data?
Why must we suffer these reptiles among us? I hope Richard slams the
hell out of Stanco when he speaks at GWU.
