Since they've now come out and said that $20 million (alleged) payment
from Microsoft to Caldera/SCO was merely an API layer license and does
not protect Microsoft from being sued for infringement, we can see well
enough what SCO's plan du jour is. Shake some kind of settlement out of
IBM at the table or in court, then go after Microsoft. They'll use the
fact that Microsoft has already licensed something as ammunition when
they go after the big prize. If Apple's still in business after that,
OS X will be an easy mark.
But that was last week's master plan. Who knows what SCO will change
their allegations to _this_ week?
