Hi everyone -
Allow me to be the first to congratulate Ruben on his incredible
victory.
I heard on the radio this morning that Ruben is the winner of this
year's "American Idol" contest. Although I haven't seen the show, I
understand that it came down to a tight contest between Ruben and one
other competitor, with a difference of only about 1000 votes. And this
was from a total of over two million voters! That's more people than
the turnout from the last presidential election!
I was especially surprised to learn that Ruben's vocal stylings were
favorably compared to Luther Vandross -- considering that Mr. Vandross
may never sing again, I'm happy to know that someone else will be taking
up the torch of singing soulful ballads. The world can always use more
finely performed spiritual and make-out music.
So congratulations, Ruben! Just don't forget all of your old friends
after you embark on your big recording career!
