Micheal is making a valid point. While GNU/Linux might not be the 'End All', whatever that is, Free Software desktops are already superior to the two major propriatory systems currently available in every practicle way, from usability, to stability and security. The reason why Businesses choose those other systems have nothing to do with any practicle business reasons, but the decision making is being firmly planted on the void of marketing power, both to the individual businesses making the decisions, and the firms developing the verticle applications on those desktops which these businesses fell they need.

In this regard, businesses NEVER make a decision on an unbias evalution of the products. They make these decisions for the same reason they drink Budweiser, "it's taste great and is less filling".
In that regard, we CAN NOT also fight a rear guard action in the marketing arena.
I concede NOTHING to them. Our stuff is not only FREE and UNEMBUMBERED, but it is also BETTER in every case. And I except every sales person (who is all of us), on the sales force to say the same thing, every time.
If this makes us no better than Microsoft, first I don't believe that, and secondly, I don't care.
When people in the community say that Free Software systems aren't ready for the desktop, they're talking out of their hat. They are ready, and have been ready for nearly a decade. At no time was any desktop product by either Apple or Microsoft ever better than even the most oldest of X desktops. GAWD, they still totally suck when compared to OLVWM.
