SUBJECT | Subject: [hangout] Proposed PR process resolution
|
Proposal, submitted for revision, rejection or comment:
If anyone wishes to make a public statement (print, electronic, etc.) on behalf of NYLXS, an NYLXS committee, or a group affiliated with NYLXS under the NYLXS banner it must first be submitted to NYLXS Public Relations. In addition to checking the presentation (grammar, spelling, etc.) via an open process (all revisions submitted to the author prior to publication, for author's approval), statements will be routed according to provided instructions. Examples include "immediate release" (twenty-four hour minimum turn-around time), "by May 10" (predetermined deadlines), as well as specified recipients or recipient lists/categories (tech media, local/federal government distribution, etc.).
This would guarantee consistency and professionalism in all public manifestations of the organization. It would also satisfy the need for an efficient and effective distribution process. Members wishing to represent themselves independent of NYLXS are under no restrictions, of course.
The account for PR distribution should be something like "announce-at-nylxs.org" or "director-at-nylxs.org", and not attached to a specific individual within the organization.
