While NYLXS may not have the piece of paper that says it is a non-profit, and
therefore donations are tax-deductible, it might be worth mentioning this to
the graphic design company.
Unless they don't need any extra write off (which is unlikely), the tax
deduction would be worth more to them than the $15, even if, and probably
more likely if, it is a sub-s corp.
Of course, they should consult with a professional on the matter.
They might be willing to wait for the tax deduction proof, if they get a
receipt from NYLXS saying that the monitors have been received. And if NYLXS
doesn't get the tax deduction should lightening strike, I'm sure that NYLXS
can guarantee to Jonathan Jacobs the $30, and he in turn could guarantee the
$30 to the graphics place should the unlikely happen. If I were them, I'd
definitely want the tax deduction over the $15 per.
19" crt monitors start at about $200, and if they are geared to graphics
design, they may be worth hundreds more new. I'd guess the deduction value
at half, so that makes the deduction worth a minimum $100 per monitor.
