Yes, a slave market opening up is not what I expected returning home...
I chose the word slavery for a specific reason and point of comparison. Of
course, I find the idea of a company that claims there is a "sacred" right to
intellectual property that I never found in our constitution, then goes out
of it's way to deliberately deny this right to others, but I don't think even
the slavers of centuries past had "charged" for the passage into slavery.
Of course it is a pointless thing to argue or debate on this list, for the
only person that might actually choose to offer or perhaps even hold a very
different opinion, our list's microsoft monitor, will of course remain
silent. Being paid to "hold an opinion" is another strange idea, but having
returned from eastern Europe, I am reminded of some of the police state
tactics of the old soviet system where people were paid to spy on their
neighbors.
Speaking of debates, there is an ogg of my debate with the czech government,
as well as of my speech there. That was not meant to be a debate either, but
it became something like one...
Ruben, you would probably have found my trip to the Jewish quarter most
interesting. Among other things, the longest known continually operating
synagog in all of Europe can be found in Prague, and it dates back to around
the 11th century.
