That gives you the choice of just about all of them. There may be a couple in python, but I can't even think of any.
Some don't require software on your site, but I tend to advise people to avoid solutions that leave them with little control over their own stuff/fate.
I'm not an expert at this, but Moveable Type is a good one. It handles the load of Wil Wheaton's site, which speaks well of it.
Then there's the big kahuna, Greymatter. http://www.noahgrey.com/greysoft
Those are both Perl solutions, which might be preferable if you know Perl and want to modify it to suit your own needs.
There's plenty of them in PHP too. The one I'm most familiar with is b2. http://www.cafelog.com
Avoid the slashdot clones and slashdot like things like PHP Nuke, PostNuke etc. They're overkill and generally more prone to security problems.
