SUBJECT | Re: [hangout] Infomation on the NY Fair use action

i engaged in conversation with 2 people
1 was a speaker, from where i don't know, others told me HP but I could not confirm that. He was quite aggitated with me and demanded I explain why I was there. I was taken back by his glare and tone. I simply and calmly told him we disagreeed with the inclusion of MS in the event. He, again quite angrily, told me that he has customers who are "only a few steps down the road and don't need religion in it". I asked which "road" he meant and he told me the "Open Source" road. I immediately retorted that this had Nothing to do with religion or zealotry and was all about misleading promotion of the event. I explained that we had no issue "debating" MS in a "debate" but an event that was billed as "advocacy" should be just that: a clear consise promotional event Advocating OSS. Including MS was a dilution of that message and confusing for his customers. Again, nothing to do with religion and zealotry. All he could do was give me an aggressive, nasty glare which, being a professional, prompted me to just excuse myself and continue handing out flyers.
The other gentleman was from SAIC. When he saw the jist of the flyer he lit up! He said that when he saw MS on the bill he could not fathom why they would be there and thought something was very fishy about it. He congratulated me on a great effort with the costumes and voicing the hipocracy of including them in the event. From there our conversations veered off the main subject.
Congrats and good job once again to all of us who worked so hard to get there and make a stand!
