i agree with ruben (and don't think it doesn't hurt to say so).
one of the most irritating things about the "digital rights" companies is that they are completely unwilling to have any of the current laws enforced for exactly that reason: people would see see how "fucken [sic] stupid the laws are."
we should think about mechanisms to bring this odd corporate behaviour a little more public attention. if the public had a concrete understanding of exactly what the current and proposed restrictions were, it might be more easily roused from apathy.
(for example, we could have ruben copy a dvd and then have him arrested and locked up... no, on second thought that wouldn't work; the public would see that as a benefit... i'll have to give it a little more thought)
