There are some talks on DMITRY-PLAN to hold a IRC summit to coordinate efforts between local organizers. Although time is not set yet, chances are that it will happen tonight. Does anyone have a notebook with wireless connection so we can participate in IRC talk during our meeting? See you tonight, --lg

I was just thinking, it is very interesting that we are holding this meeting at this location. NYC has a long history of city government and political movements stemming from Bar's within a few hundred feet of this pub.
Infact, the first City Hall was in a Pub, about 100 feet from the Rose.
Here's to making history!

Greeting
With some of the dust settling, and many ideas beginning to crystal, this is a critical meeting Thurday Nite (today).
Please join us as we start to move towards positive action this week. We will be focusing on signs, pamphlets, and targeting Congressional districts this week. We are also going to make some decisions including White Powder Wigs, singing America the Beautiful while minding folks that such performance of copyrighted material is a CRIME under the DMCA...and other things we can think which are outragous enough to enlighten the NYC prolateriate.
7:30PM (I'll be there at 7 if anyone wants to talk).
Dinner is available at a good price.
The Killarny Rose Pub 2nd Floor 82 Beaver Street At Wall St, Perl, and Hanover.
Meeting generally go on until 11PM.

Is being chased by the cops a measure of success for this? Actually, it was in the case of Ghandi, in part because they were able to get and present a clearly unreasonable response that set the mind of the public who was wrong. I am not sure protesters in this country today could be that self disciplined as was required for something like that. Did people bring sticks?!

Then we are moving on to The Canvassing Talking points I posted on the list for aproval. We are selecting Buttons, and setting a firm date and time for the canvassing in Chuck Schumer's Neighborhood in Park Slope Brooklyn USA. This is also Nadler's Congressional District.
The goals were listed before on the mailing list. We are also going to cover the national Free Dmitry petition.
If you care at all about fairu Use and the protection of information access, or free speach, this meeting is your best chance to make a real positive difference on the future.

Things are REALLY heating up as we are going to be doing our first canvassing hopefully next week. We are going to discuss the Monday Demonstation venue.

New Yorkers for Fair USe is announcing our first canvassing efforts in Senator Schumers back yard, at 9AM on Sunday Aug 9th.
Time: Aug 9th 9AM
Mobilization: 10AM
Canvassing Leaflets, block assignments, and marching orders are to be handed out as we hit door to door to cover the neighborhood. When we get finished, noone in the community should be unaware of the impact of the DMCA on Libraries, Education and Fair Use.
If you want to be involved in this very importnt work, email me as soon as possible to signup for buttons, paperwork and petitions.
So far we have about 15 people commited to this action, but more is better. This is not a demonstatration, and letting us know that your planning to show up to canvass, and to get instructions, is important.
We will be starting off by hitting the local evening rush next week, and doing a speach at the Food Co-op, and the Atlantic Antic.
Time is ticking, we have to hit on this now. Tuesday nite we will meet on IRC at 10PM on irc.linux.com #nylug, to hammer out some issues.
