There is always a trade off, but I don't see any tactics used which were damaging and it deflected the entire process and opened several door on capital hill.
If you know of some damage, I'm all all ears so that we can improve tactics.
If there was any negitives, it was that the organization came home with everyone forgetting the goal of the effort and looking after their ego's instead of remaining on the course, and that there was an attempted coup of NY Fair Use which halted, temporarily, it's ability to follow up. but this has been largely fixed now, and the same kind of tight, clear, and organized activities is again possible since it's now protected from attack by bing folded directly NYLXS. Now it has a stable government again and can be used to properly force pressure on Government to open up digital systems and end barriers to the adoption of Fair Use and Free Software.
Proper copyright policy and DRM are core to the issues of egov-OS, and its pulling out a chair for MS at the expense of those who really can about digital freedom through applied fair use rights.
DRM is theft and it is dangerous for Government to be dependent on systems which support it. We are the stakeohlders in Copyright and the Government, and NY Fair Use (fairuse.nylxs.com) will pursue this issue in the interest of giving Free Software developers a fair shake in an open market.
