I think you'll like Scribus if you get it up and running. I just spent about two hours investigating and found out it supports both CMYK custom colors and has a standard palette containing about 15 Pantone colors. This means you can do all page layout that is necessary.
Importing pictures was strange. It does not seem to support TIFFs. They appear to import but don't have a preview nor could I get it to pdf. EPS, JPEG and BMP all seem to work fine.
If I can just get my fonts squared away, I'd have the page layout tool I've been looking for on a gnu linux platform. One step closer to being able to get all my work done in gnu linux.
