Jay decided that he would get Seth and Brett to crash the NY Fair Use meeting and stir things up at the Installfest. It apears that Mr Sulzberger has decided undermine NY Fair Use even MORE than he was previously, and I think Brett is likely to be very spiteful in the near future to NYLXS and to NY Fair Use.
In any event, NY Fair Use is going to continue to move forward on it's plan, the plan which was esentially put into motion nearly 2 years ago with much experience and deliberation.
We are going to continue to focus on a narrow, politically viable action drumming natural constituencies and building strength through the proper use of lexicon. At this point, we've made our first contact with Congressman Weiner, face to face, and we are going to drill the points made in the Congressional Hearings on the Berman Bill, as well as the fire power placed on our hands by Jack Valenti at the DOC meetings on DRM in July.
Brets out, Seth is out, and Jay is out, although he was never really in. They've decided to take a different path and are forming their own organization. There efforts are just more of the same diluted stuff which has been ineffective accross the board.
NYLXS will continue to give aid as it can to NY Fair Use, and the two organizations will continue as sister organizations in the struggle for Digital Freedoms. NY Fair Use will continue to be a tightly run political machine with one goal in mind, redining Fair Use in the body politic as being a Civil Right based on the 1,4, and 5 amendments.
It's unfortunate that people who we have trusted have shown to be not worthy of trust, and are un able to deliver us to goals we seek to obtain do to inexperience and ego's. But we'll overcome this and keep NY Fair Use intact.
