SUBJECT | Subject: [hangout] My Conversation with Brett
|
This afternoon Brett Wynkoop and I had a conversation regarding some of the goings on over the last few weeks. We both took time out from our paying work to discuss matters.
The first thing Brett and I discussed was the class that he is currently teaching. My first question was wether the students enrolled were getting what they signed up and paid for. He assured me they were. I asked if I could come to class tonight, the final one, and just observe and ask the students if they felt they were being served. He agreed, as long as I'm not disruptive, to this. So, tonight I will follow up on that.
The rest of our discussion revoled around the .org domain name, his reasons for not transferring it to NYLXS and some of the history on what he based his decision on. At this time, Brett has some very valid concerns about transferring the .org name to NYLXS and honestly IMHO I think NYLXS as a group needs to stand up and show some good faith here. I'm not going to address Brett's specific concerns here because they are mostly with Ruben.
I will say that what Ruben does as an INDIVIDUAL should not be reflective of NYLXS as a GROUP. Ruben you should act in accordance to what the board and members feel is appropriate not what YOU think should be done.
At this time, I would like to see the following good faith measures acted upon IMMEDIATELY:
1 - Unblock Brett's packets so he can participate and receive hangout mail 2 - Ruben stop the spam from the NYLXS server and ANY OTHER server you have under your control 3 - Configure the NYLXS server to allow the .org domain to mirror exactly what the .com server is, not an http redirect
Secondly, NYLXS should agree tp pay Brett his salary for the class he taught assuming that the students have no compliants. I'll find out about this tonight. After all, Brett fulfilled his part of the agreement by teaching the class.
NYLXS as a group may want to consider having a more active roll in manging and administrating the NYLXS server.
There are undoubtably issues that need to be resolved between Brett and Ruben. I think if NYLXS as a group support the 3 points of good faith above we will see an agreeable solution to the .org domain name.
This is only the first step in moving forward to making NYLXS a group that is responsible for its own actions and dealing with the action's of its members.
Joe
