SUBJECT | Re: [nylug-talk] [hangout] La Guardia Demo Status: We MUST HAVE volunteers to work on publicity

Publicity: I can help with the following:
I will submit the information on the Demo to the following locations: CUNY Radio stations, requesting that they broadcast the announcement of the event. The link for the CUNY radio stations is:
http://www.cuny.edu/cunymatters/index.html
there is no radio station at LaGuardia, but the other CUNY Queens radio stations may agree to carry the announcement. I'll try them all.
I have also contacted CUNY TV, at http://www.cuny.tv/ asking them if they have an announcements or calendar program, and if they can include the demo in their programming.
Time Warner Cable has at least 4 cable channels in Queens that are public access channels. These channels are called QPTV, for Queens Public Television. The cablecast is on channels 34, 35, 56, 57. When no program is airing (most of the time), a community events calendar, similar to a slide show or power point presentation is running, showing the community events being held in Queens. To get an event on this calendar, the event must be put on by a non-profit. If I have a flyer, I'll try calling them and asking them for a fax number where I can fax the flyer for them to look at it, requesting that they put the event on their community calendar on their cable channels. They may run it, or they may request information directly from LaGuardia before running it. We may need Dimitar to ask someone at LaGuardia to give QPTV a call to get the program listed.
I'll try other media sources as well, listing them as I do them, so there is no duplication.
As soon as a flyer or summary is available, please post on NYLXS web site, and email the link to hangout. As for the web page, please make the link simple, such as www.nylxs.com/demo.html or something similar. Due to the way the television calendars function, a simple hyperlink is more likely to be followed, and the link directly to the demo information is better for our target audience. Post link to web page on hangout asap.
What phone number/email contact can I use for the ads? Ruben, is it OK to use your phone number and email address for the television calendar ads?
Vin.
