SUBJECT | Subject: [hangout] La Guardia Demo Status: We MUST HAVE volunteers to work on publicity
|
Folks,
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY We have enough speakers lined up to do a core set of sessions that would be worthwhile. A commitment has been made to follow up on logistics. If we don't get volunteers to work on publicity, the demo is at risk of of falling on its face.
PUBLICITY This is the weakest area of the demo preparation. IF WE DON'T GET MORE VOLUNTEERS, WE ARE AT RISK OF NOT GETTING GOOD ATTENDANCE!
We need volunteers to take responsibility for the following publicity tasks. One person does not need to do all of them; it's ok to volunteer for one task only:
Create web-page for the demo Physically go to where the demo will be and write down directions by subway and auto Stapling fliers on the streets near La Guardia Distributing fliers in other street venues in the city Distribute flyers through the Mayor's office of Small Business Development
The following tasks are covered: Distributing fliers through La Guardia Small Business Association (Dimitar) Distributing fliers to Non-profit Technology Assistance providers (Phil) Distributing fliers to non-profits in the UJA building (Evan) Work with Red Hat and other distributors to set up a booth (Paul)
SPEAKERS The following speakers are committed to the demo X and Desktops (Jonathan Jacobs) Open Office (Jonathan Jacobs or Diane Rollins [if we can confirm with her]) Data Base Tools (Ruben Safir) Cryptography for Accountants and Lawyers (Jay Suzlberger) Graphics Solutions (Marco Scoffier) Free Software Road Map (Phil Glaser) TCO Studies (Keith Mattox) Hardware Reuse Case Studies (Dirk Slater) Non-Profits Session (Phil Glaser)
There have been suggestions about having other sessions, such as Ximian evolution Client. If there are people out there who will do these sessions, let them step forward and I'll put them on the schedule. But I'm not chasing anyone down.
LOGISTICS Dimitar has assured me that he will be taking charge of logistics at LaGuardia.
