SUBJECT | Subject: [hangout] GPS Log
|
Ah, the joys of proprietary software. Last night, I recorded a GPS log of our trip using my Magellan GPS Visor module and the Magellan NavCompanion software.. I beamed the route to my Linux-lovin' laptop. Fine..
Now I've got a binary route file. What's the format? Who knows? How do you convert it to text? Who knows? Where's the support website for the software? There isn't one! Magellan doesn't ship their own lame program anymore, they ship REAL GPS software (called "Quo Vadis") and have dropped all mention of NavCompanion from the site.
Of course you realize this means war.... Rev.Eng. is a dish best served cold.
