SUBJECT | Subject: [hangout] LaGuardia demo update
|
Hello,
Last Monday, Phil and I had a chance to see the space for the demo at LaGuardia community college and to talk to the people there who are going to help us with the demo.
The space that we are going to have at our disposal for the demo consists of a computer room and an atrium. The booths will be located in the atrium which is pretty big. There, LaGuardia will provide desk for each presented and internet connection. We cannot have monitors but we can get keyboards, extension cords etc.
The presentations will take place in the computer room. It is big enough to accommodate 30-40 people. It has a projector that could be connected to a laptop or PC. It is also possible to display the presentation on each PC in the computer room.
Starting Aug 16 we plan to start the advertising campaign for the demo to small businesses, other colleges who might be interested to host one of the next demo and probably some of the Linux distributions like RedHat.
first, we need to know who is going to participate in the event. All speakers. Please email me your name, topic of the presentation, abstract and short bio. The sooner we have this list the easier for us to organize the whole event. Somewhere around Aug 16 we would like to set a meeting with all the presenters at the demo. More on that later. first we have to know who is going to speak at LaGuardia.
Mark the calendar. The date for the demo is set for Wednesday Oct 2, 2002.
Any idea or suggestion is more than welcomed.
have fun,
dimitar
