This is top level exclusivism which is poisoning the future potential
of individual computing. Just slap on RMS label and through in some
slashdot comments and send them on their way. It's nonsense and worse,
it's dangerous. This problem of Sendmail file permissions is a result
of the closed nature of the OS and not a feat of engineering.
The fact is, that Apple is fameous for it's lousey tech support and the
suggestion that if something is uncovered, email Apple and an engineer
will look at it.
So your saying Apples completely changed now? And even if it did, what
does it matter. It's not like Free OS's don't have technical issues,
because they do. It's not like we're breaking new scientific ground here
either guys. Apple should just RELEASE the interface so someone can fix
it if they choose to. And they can also make sure that no DRM slips in.
Free Software is about computing for the masses. Nearly every one
of the desktop environments is easier than Apple, and you can certainly
choose one to your needs. And most importantly, you get to email the
developers directly for information, and use the systems to your maximun
capability from my kids, up unto where I was custom designed interfaces
for HPLC results in aresearch lab. It caters to each user to their
ability.
It's never about - Hey I'm an engineer, go F*** off you RMS loving
slashdoters.
When is Quicktime going to be opened up so that anyone can see them,
and everyone could create a viewer? It's never going to happen.
But here's one better, what's Apple going to do when DRM insists that
every computer have to have a MS signed crypto key to work?
No problem, just make even less of the OS useable...
You should read up on my speech made at LSM in Bordeuax France,
and then maybe all this (the universe and the world of computing)
will make more sense to you.

We must have the right to use software/hardware and media
and we must have the right to improve what has been created, even if created by others.
