<really don't. I have been doing free software since you were probably just a gleam in your daddy's eye,>>
Probibly not since I'm very likely to be older than you, and certainly have more life experience.
<put plenty of time and energy into examining the whole Apple and Open Source relationship and know exactly how complex it is and how to work within the confines of REALITY as I seek to improve things. >>
It's admirable that Apple would try to do anything with Free Software to the degree it has. But the REALITY is that the Apple efforts fall short and give no added value to Free Software AT ALL.
It just hampers the user. All propertiary closed systems are DESIGNED to entrap the user, close down markets, and prevent fair competition.
BTW - the correct turm is FREE SOFTWARE. Free as in Freedom.
<want more background on that, feel free to read any of the following articles:
O'Reilly / Boston Globe: http://www.oreillynet.com/cs/user/view/wlg/966 CNET: http://news.com.com/2100-1001-269045.html?legacy=cnet ZDNet: http://news.zdnet.co.uk/story/0,,t269-s2090090,00.html UPSide: http://www.upside.com/Open_Season/3a26ad1a2.html
And for my own views, you can read my article in Salon Magazine. Somewhat dated now that I work for Apple, but no less heartfelt.

I'll look at your articles. You should read some of mine. -- __________________________
