I just left a message asking Lamar to call me about the Commerce Department's Workshop.
I believe in abject audacity. However, I'm kind of weak conceptually on how to prevail on Lamar to get Weiner to lean on the Commerce Department. So this was a "please call me back about this Commerce Department workshop on Wednesday, and I know that Weiner's office has specific concerns in this area, since I am working with some representative of the public interest who would really like to participate in it" kind of message.
I also just left a message with Chris Israel saying that I know of a number of representatives of the public interest that can speak effectively about the consequences of digital "rights" management and what information technology means for the public in general. I said I thought he had said yesterday that the list of panelists was "pretty firmed up," but wanted to know if there was any way he could consider adding representatives of the public's interest who can speak in ways that go beyond regarding the public as "consumers."
If some people call over the weekend, maybe they'll take it into account Monday. I'm not so sure about the Lamar angle -- somebody firm me up on it.
The comments page is still active, too.
