This isn't especially fair. Bobby (etc.) thinks that Linux needs a stronger voice, while Art (etc.) thinks that Linux sounds like some sort of cult because of the grassroots nature of the promotion that builds the voice.
It's rather a no-win situation.
Personally, I see *some* of those using MSFT products as cultish. These are the people that don't consider alternatives - literally. They buy "a PC" because that's what there is. Nothing else exists in their limited world.
I'm not referring, of course, to the person that can say something like "I looked as ABC, and it lacked 123. I checked into DEF but it was too 456." I'm speaking of those that don't even think to ask or look.
Those are the people operating on "blind faith", a very cultish behavior in my opinion.
Of course, no idea is so good that it doesn't attract fools. In the Open Source world, these are too often the ones screaming in the loudest voice about the ills of Closed Source. Unfortunately, we come back Bobby's idea that Linux needs to be more strongly marketed. There is no Linux Inc., so this is left as a grassroots exercise. And any grassroots exercise needs its "nut cases". The sane are too busy merely doing their work and living their lives.
