Jackie Robinson Middle School 320 (located in Crown Heights Brooklyn, NY),
which was once considered one of Brooklyn's better schools; and now is one
of the 6 low performance schools considered last year for experiment with
private management (Edison Schools Inc.), needs help in designing this
term's School Yearbook.
To help the school out, a growing alumni group formed an "adopt a school"
initiative. After visiting the school and
meeting with the Principal and a group of very dedicated, concerned and very
overwhelmed faculty, they discovered that the children's learning experience
at this school has been extremely limiting (lacking shop, music, very
limited technology, drama, very limited art and cultural exposure) with the
primarily focus on just passing tests!
Anyway, the alumni group has just been informed that while the teachers and
students have compiled most of what they want to include for this terms
yearbook, they do not have anyone with the technical and designer skills to
pull it all together and prepare it for print, and do not have the budget to
hire a Graphic Design Firm.
They realize this is very short notice, (they need it before the scheduled
graduation date of June 18th 2002),
but if anyone out there knows of someone that has the Graphic Design
expertise, time and willingness to take this on this mission (strictly as
volunteers -- no pay) they would appreciate hearing from you.
