SUBJECT | Re: [hangout] Easy to administer FTP application?

which brings up the question of the pair: sftp-server and sftp client, which use ssh for the ftp-like services. these programs ship with redhat's packages "openssh-clients" and "openssh-server"
i've been fooling around with it today and, though i still have some questions, can report that the server logs the sftp session (in var/log/secure) as follows: ---------------------------------------------------------- May 14 02:40:40 localhost sshd[13882]: Accepted password for from 192.168.xxx.xxx port 32769 ssh2 May 14 02:40:40 localhost sshd[13882]: subsystem request for sftp May 14 02:41:58 localhost sshd[754]: Received signal 15; terminating. May 14 03:02:25 localhost sshd[772]: Server listening on 0.0.0.0 port 22. ---------------------------------------------------------- the sftp client acted as a plain, old ftp client does WITHOUT an ftp service running on the server. nmap reports no open ftp ports and, curiously, the server's transfer log doesn't log the transfer
