SUBJECT | Subject: [hangout] Anyone want a job working with Free Software?
|
I'm looking over this mornings Slashdot posting and there is a great discussion on GUI interfaces by Havoc Pennington, who happens to auther one of the major GNOME writing books.
Like more and more FS articles I'm reading now, people are getting worried about the failue to move FS onto the desktop, and this thread seems to be in line with muxh of the dsiscussion I've had over the last year about what it takes to get CODERS to RESPOND to need rather than their own coding masterbation in the Free Software model.
It's been unbelievably fustrating, and today, even our group, which is probibly the most active Free Software group in the country, can't seem to do ANYTHING to even get GNU/Linux even demonstrated for businesses or government at CUNY. It just so sucks, all this foot dragging and lazyiness, and yes, selfishness, to fail to help move FS forward.
We've had the AMFAR Proposal, the Borough Hall Proposal and the CUNY DEMO on the agenda for WEEKS, and you guys are doing NOTHING, and most of you are out of work, and those not out of work are generally using Proprietary platforms.
But - hey no sweat, by this time next month, Free Software will be officially illegal to use on any new 'digital device' - feh
