That's flat out wrong. Copyright of the textbooks are owned by the publishers, NYU has a fine intranet and no need of the DVD at all. They all hate it so much, their printing out a 1 MILLION pages and it only works on their damn Macs with closed propietary hardware. AND IT TURNS ITSELF OFF, and the HAVE TO BUY IT, even if they don't want it. They can't resell it to undergrads. Vital Books said, flatout, that the puibblishers will no longer have to compete with their own used texted books. So it's purpose is to eliminate their 4th Amdendment right to security in their property.
It just sucks a little less now...

They don't need this thing at all, NYU has cut a deal hereon the back of the students.
