SUBJECT | Subject: [hangout] ANNOUNCEMENT:: VA Software Recalls all Linux Tee Shirts
|
March 6th, 2002
After spending over a quarter of a billion dollars on their Linux based Hardware Business, last year VA Linux (previously VA Research and currently VA Software), changed their motif and become VA Software. When the local representitivce Jim Gleason was contacted concerning the change at the Linux World Expo, Mr Gleason emphatically denied that VA was a Linux or Open Source Software company any longer.
"VA is not a Linux company anymore. We do not do Fere Software".
When Member of the VA board, Eric Raymond, was asked on the internet radio show about VA's current tries to the Open Source Movement, Eric was quoted as say, "Open Source, what is that?!!". When asked how VA could spend over a quarter of a billion dollars on Open Source Software, Eric replied, "Hey Hardware is just not a good business model. It's like guns and butter. The real money is in the Ammo."
But what has been suspected on the street for over the last 3 months is finally coming to light. VA actually spent nearly half of it's capital on mdoifiying and freeing up Tee Shirt Manufactoring technology. And now, to prove that VA absolutely is not in the Open Source SoftwareCompany, Free Software Company, a inux Software Company, or in the Tee Shirt Business, they have recalled every single Swag tee shirt and sticker with the word "Linux" on it which they ever gave away, or which anyone else has ever given away.
Larry Augustin insists that the EULA for every shirt clearly said that in the event that VA stopped selling hardware specifically configured for Linux, that tee shirts would automatically be recalled. Bill Gates, CEO of Microsoft was quoted as say, "That seems like a great idea! Let's use something like that for Widows XP!". 10 year old Shoshana Safe, however, tearfully fought back against the overbearing Mr Augustin's request to return the shirts saying, "I will NOT give back my VA Tee Shirt. It's the difference between Trust and Anti-trust, and the Tooth fairy and Slashdot" In response to the controversy, Senator Hillary Clinton was quoted as saying, "I'm for that as it is good for young children and single mothers with AIDS." And her office is starting a serious investigation into the matter.
