Unfortunately, Raiser's Edge is a well-developed, full function fund-raising package with lots of extras. It has been around for a long time and actually works. Although expensive, it is the package of choice for fund-raisers. While you probably could write some programs that would fill some of this administrator's needs, I doubt that you could create a duplicate of this package in a reasonable amount of time, free of teething problems. The administrator, computer-literate or not, probably made the right choice from the standpoint of functionality.
On the other hand, beware of the company that makes Raiser's Edge when it comes to training. They charge unconscionable amounts of money for training that should be included in the package purchase.
