Everyone under the sun is now pushing their stupidity on you. It's getting ridecules.
Java is complete shit, it is complex, and will get your kid nowhere. C is not even to be considered. Only an idiot would take a 5 year old and start to teach compiler theory, data types and pointers under C to a 9 year old.
Python is white space sensitive and fustrates kids.
USE PERL.
How do I know - gee whiz, maybe because I have kids and they use computers...
