I must correct myself. Last mail from Karl says he probably won't be able to make it now. I'd e-mail him anyway though.
Come to think of it, I'd start lurking NOVALUG and DCLUG's lists. That should help you identify the people you're interested in talking to.

You've worked with them before on the demonstration in DC. I would of course continue to be careful to avoid giving the impression you're trying to establish a "competing organization" as you have been effective at doing here in NY. (otherwise you might come off as an outsider pushing their way into town)
If you can help get a "clone" going in DC then you can do it other places as well, and should consider some kind of national organization that ties all the groups at least loosely together.
There would be many advantages to this both for the political goals and the educational goals. The hard part of course would be getting everyone to agree on what to do. ;)
