I get upset about the Hardware aspect because - for some bizzarre reason, everyone thinks that because we are enforcing a hardware standard, either we are on the take, or we are have some damn responsibility to be exposed to every freaken hardware sales rep on earth.

This is not a marketing opputunity for hardware vendors. This is ABOUT TEACHING.
This is not about restricting what people can use in the class, IT ABOUT NOT MAKING THE HARDWARE THE FOCUS.
Standardization of the hardware with a known venodr is what's needed. If you don't want to KEEP the computer, donate it the Board of Ed later.
I've thought about this complete program for 3 years already. It can NOT be done properly without student ownership of the hardware, and standardized hardware at that.
