Ruben, I don't think anyone, certainly not me, is questioning the quality of the boxes ( you always assume that this is the case). The writer of the email doesn't even have the specs so he can't criticize the box yet.
If you take an intro photo class you are required to provide a 35mm camera with manual capability. Obviously some cameras students bring are crap, by taking the class some students learn this and then understand what they need to look for when they buy a new camera. Obviously computers are more complicated than cameras, but I think we can be a little more flexible about this.
I feel the program should allow people to take just one class-- even though this is not the long term goal of NYLXS. It is a reality.
I only brought up the gui-install as a validation of hardware. If the gui-install has worked you can *probably* use this box for the class (with *no* hardware support obviously). If not you will have to find another computer or buy the course approved inexpensive, solid and supported model.
