Dear everyone:
I want to thank everyone who participated in last nights NYLXS meeting.
We had a large turnout of interested and motivated parties. It was hard
work, but we passed a constitional chart, which Joe Maffia will post the
text of shortly, and assigned all our major committees. This is a
terrific start for this group to build on. I really think we are starting
something powerful and unique.
Richard Weinberg, our Secretary, will give a formal presentation of the
minutes soon, but I want to break down a summury of last nights
assignments and acomplishments.
First, the following Offices have been filled.
President: Ruben Safir
First VP - Marcus Conti
Second VP - JoeAnn Cripps
Secretary - Richard Weinberg
Recording Secretary - Liz Arum
Treasurer - Joe Maffia
Co-Treasurer - Mike Richardson
The follwoing Standing Committees are being chaired as follows:
Membership - Richard Weinberg
Education - Marcus Conti
Lobbying - Ruben Safir
Jounal - Mike Richardson
Finance - Joe Maffia
The following adhoc committees have been formed and chaired as listed
Website - Liz Arum
Real Estate - Richard Weinberg
Train and the Free Software Institute - Paul Hernandez
The Committee to Support Free Software in Education - Marcus Conti?
The Public Relations Committee - Big Joe (I need to get his last name).
In addition to this, there are two committees I wanted to discuss forming
which we didn't get too. One is a Committee on Mentoring, and a Committee
for oversite of our Inservice program.
We need to get a micro tape recorder for Liz to record meetings. We also
should get business cards, if not for the entire officer, then atleast fot
he organization.
I want to thank everyone who worked so hard on this including:
Mike Richardson, Jay, Richard, Adam, Marcus, Liz, Billy, John Bobber and
others.
Please get your membership dues to Joe Maffia.
