Times were tough before the attacks. What should early and middle stage start-up companies expect now? What is the funding environment? What are VCs doing? How have businesses who were affected faired in the aftermath of the attacks? What creative things can businesses do to survive, grow and thrive in the current environment? What are city, state and local governments or private foundations doing to help? What can a start-up company do to adequately protect its data and work around the on-going infrastructure issues caused by the attack? All these, and more topics will be discussed from the following viewpoints:
Kevin Cunningham Founder Production Designer, LLC Kevin is a founder and CEO of Production Designer, LLC, which makes stage equipment control technology used by live theatre and event venues to stage productions. Production Designer, LLC lost their office as a result of the WTC attacks. Kevin will discuss what they did to survive and how start-up companies should prepare for the future.
Maria Gotsch Senior Vice President New York City Investment Fund The New York City Investment Fund provides financial and strategic assistance to businesses and nonprofit projects that create jobs revitalize. Maria will discuss what foundations and the government are doing to help businesses in crisis and to foster new business in downtown New York City.

Frank will discuss data access, storage, backup and connectivity issues that resulted from the attack on the WTC and how business enterprises can protect their data and connectivity going forward.
Venture Capitalist This speaker will discuss the current funding environment for early and middle stage start-up companies from a venture capitalist/funder's perspective.
