I seek an associate software engineer to work with me on various projects in the Internet/ISP area. Qualifications: - Object Oriented analysis and design knowledge. UML or equivalent (I can't imagine why someone who is into OMT wouldn't know UML but ....). Use case analysis a plus. - OOP : Object-oriented Perl. - UNIX programmer (development and target environment is Linux). You need not know anything about ISP and internet infrastructure, because I know enough for both of us. - CGI a plus. mod_Perl, even better.
Note: It is not sufficient to be able to implement objects from a detailed specification. You must be able to work with me to make the object models and to aid in creating the specification.
Remote work ok but you must be available to spend time face-to-face in the early stages to understand the requirements and divide the work.
Part-time ok if you have 20 hours/week and can put in a solid 6-8 hour block. Productivity is key.
Experience -- you must have experience in Perl. I may consider graduate students who have done academic O-O projects.
I am also possibly willing to entertain an associate who is an experienced O-O modeler and hasn't the Perl experience. If you don't know anything about OOA/OOD don't waste our time (I don't care how smart you are, there is no time in the project schedule for you to spin up as a complete newbie).
Rate is negotiable. Independent contractor status, but you must supply a tax ID # when hired as you will hopefully earn more than $600.
Oh yeah -- in-person interview required (casual dress, don't get your suit dirty on my account -- I wear jeans, sneakers, and pullover shirts all day). Portfolio -- I would like to see a sample of your Perl code (point me at a CPAN module you wrote if applicable). I would also like to see some of your O-O modeling work if at all possible (pointers to your published articles on the subject most welcome, certainly not required).
