They are forcing you to not only pay for the Windows license, but also a penalty for not using Windows.
This is an outrage. We need to boycott Dell.

That is bad enough. In fact, they are charging $100 less for the Windows version, WITH a faster processor (1.13Ghz), AND with more cache (512k) than the so-called equivalent Linux version (1Ghz/256k cache). If you upgrade the Linux version to the same specs, then the difference is actually $215.
I first assumed that the Linux version was coming with better hardware, or better support, or installation. This is not the case.
I hope that Dell simply screwed up the pricing. Since they build everything to order, I don't think that they can make the argument that some kind of economy of scale makes the Windows box cheaper. Nor, I'm afraid, would a supply and demand argument work, either.
