This is quite humerous for Eric Berg to tell David Sugar this, but stepping back for a minute from my astounishment of this crass and incredibly ridicules statements....
<you trade, the ownership of which is really just represented as bits stored on your computer and the code that makes up computer programs.>>
Well, stock options are really Gambling chips and Davids Program is a cultural artifact, and that's just for starters.
<levels of abstraction as human beings. >>
All of which has nothing to do in any way shape of form with real cultural artifacts like poetry, allogithisms, scientific research, or computer programs.
These are not Gambling chips, or markers on a roulet table, or a legal contract giving you real ownership of a real business with REAL buildings, desks, labs, outlets, tucks and factories.
I'm sure a man of your Broad vission can see such things.
<sustainance: find food and eat it. Now, in order to achieve this same level of sustainance, we go to work, exchanging our time for credit held in trust by our financial institutions. That in turn is exchanged with the grocer (electric company, landlord, etc.) for food which we then eat. It's an abstraction that can be applied directly to the concept of the ownership of ideas.>>
And your point. So far is is all noise and fails the most basic best of remaining on the topic of cultural artifacts. Food is real and can be stolen....
<sustain an information-based economy. Does my exchanging my thoughts (and, granted my time to express them) fall into the same category, nullifying all copyrights to the written word?>>
Make a point on the topic Eric....
